Meeting with Carolyn Tregea & Penny's Home Care | March 2024
Our meeting began with Sarah Holmes the vibrant and caring owner of Penny's Home Care - a trusted home care service in Wanaka since 2011. Sarah spoke about the importance of supportive care, unique to each individual with specially trained staff to help clients remain safely in the comfort of their own homes. Sarah emphasised the value of strong communication and relationships within healthcare to achieve good outcomes in our community. Sarah was followed by the equally vibrant Carolyn Tregea, who is a strong local advocate for disability services. Carolyn is involved in community activities that include engaging with people with disabilities beside her own. This was also an interesting interactive experience - thank you ladies!
The Packing Shed, Clyde | Feb 2024
A fabulous Day Out at the Packing Shed, a renowned restaurant in the beautifully landscaped grounds of an old family orchard near Clyde. A lovely meal tastefully served with flowers was enjoyed and there was time to stock up on the way home with the last of the summer fruits. What a day!
Meeting - Liz Maluschnig & Su Hoskin | Feb 2024
Our first meeting of 2024 was a valuable, informative and interesting one. Liz Maluschnig and Su Hoskin came to us representing Final Acts of Kindness. Their mission is to inspire, educate and empower families in compassionate, dignified and sustainable options for home death care. They also encourage conversations to raise community awareness on these issues through their facilitation of the Wanaka Death Cafe. Thank you in advance to our committee; Judy Briggs, Gail Stafford, Joy West, Lyndsey Hughes & Louise Brown and to our Activities Coordinator Helen Millar for their upcoming support of Prime Timers this year.
Christmas Lunch! | December 2023
Christmas was celebrated on 07 December this year at the Trout restaurant and bar - accommodating us numerous times over past years. A special thank you was extended to Calvin our cheerful volunteer who sorts out our tables and chairs at our meetings each month. A wonderful way to end 2023 with Prime Timers.
Lake Wanaka Cruise to Ruby Island | Nov 2023
It was a fine and breezy day for our annual Lake Wanaka Cruise trip and this year. We made the short trip to Ruby Island where we set up our tables and chairs to enjoy a delicious picnic lunch, sheltered from the wind! Some ventured for a short walk on the Island and many opted to sit tight, enjoying the view and eachother's company (with a glass of bubbles thrown in!). On our way home we ventured across the lake and up Stevenson's Arm - a wonderful time on the water!
Monthly Meeting with Phyllis Reader | Nov 2023
We were so fortunate to have the inspirational Phyllis Reader from Canada at our November meeting. Phyllis is one of the founders of International Hope Canada Inc a volunteering organisation that supplies the most impoverished countries of the world with medical supplies. Sister Gail Stafford (one of our committee members) has Phyllis staying with her for a month and we shall see them both on our cruise outing on Thursday 16 November.

Cinema Paradiso | July 2023
Our annual movie outing to Cinema Paradiso was to view The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harry Fry. A story that celebrates everday joys and human connection, it was a great Winter pick-me-up for those who attended.
Monthly Meeting | July 2023
A fun in-house monthly meeting. With Helen Millar away in Singapore visiting family, Judy and Kate (both committee members) ran the meeting. Kate opened with a fun icebreaker and got our members moving around, introducing themselves to learn something new about each other. We had an open forum where Claire Dooney spoke about what the Financial Coordinator role entails and members were asked to contribute to the topics: ‘What can we do better? Ideas for inspirational speakers and outings? How can we promote the club and gain new members?’. Not long until the AGM, we look forward to seeing everyone there.

We took a step into history with an exploration of times gone by. Our outing was a hosted visit to McNulty House and the Cromwell Heritage Precinct with a great lunch afterwards. McNulty house was built between 1868 & 1875 for John Marsh, Helen Clark's great-great grandfather on her father's side.
